“There can be no real change of heart without a real change of mind.” — Mordecai M. Kaplan
We
live in a fragmented world that pulls us in too many directions and
leaves individuals feeling a sense of profound isolation. To counteract
such damaging tendencies, our congregation strives to be a community
dedicated to performing deeds of loving kindness for each other and for
the larger community. We are a community of individuals who have chosen
to stand by each other through the major passages of life—occasions of
celebration and times of adversity. We seek to extend this caring
beyond our own congregation by engaging in community service. Our
Hebrew actively supports Tzedakah and community outreach projects
throughout the year. At the High Holidays many Tzedakah opportunites arise:
Molly Fisch-Friedman had coordinated past year's High Holidays Tzedakah. On Yom Kippur we collected canned goods for Crisis Ministry. They requested the following items:
• canned meats • vegetables and fruit • tuna and peanut butter • hot cereal or small boxes of cold cereal • small jams and honey in plastic containers • boxed macaroni and cheese • 1lb. bags dried beans • 2lb. bags of rice • boxes of Jello and pudding • packaged cookies.
On Rosh Hashanah we collected kosher foods for Jewish Family and Children’s Services. They requested:
• Seasons tuna and sardines, • Peter Pan or Skippy peanut butter, • Goya canned beans, • Parmalat milk, • hot and cold boxed cereal. Make sure all products are marked kosher.
Collection boxes at the welcome table also accept checks or cash donations for both organizations.

From Rabbi Vicki: *
I am presently coordinating a kosher food drive for JFCS b/c the Kosher
Food Pantry has been low on much-neeed food. Please bring kosher
food to Hebrew School on Monday, January 28th; services on Saturday,
Januray 26; or directly to JCFS at 707 Alexander Road in Princeton
Junction. They are in need of: pasta, canned veggies/fruit,
cereal, soup, beans, peanut butter, jelly, condiments, snacks, etc. *
A huge TODAH RABBAH to all of the "school pearls" who made the Tu
B'shevat Seder a wonderful success! Much appreciation to the
Jeffers/Mazon family and the Ratner/Zimmerman family for helping me
coordinate the event and to all the parents who pitched in to cut
fruit, arrange seder plates, clean-up, etc.
